Weather
HST/W: 24.0/1.85" OVC/X, max temp 26/18, SW 20-28 G 50. Snowing S5 this morning for about three hrs. Snow showers tapered to S1 mid day and picked back up @ 1500. Gusty winds at higher elevations but visibility was manageable all day.
Snowpack
Widespread cracking this morning on W aspects BTL. There was a mid storm density change aprox 30 cm's down. Overall the new snow felt consistent from top to bottom. Ski pen avg. 40 cm's. Anything under 35 deg slope angle was stubborn to trigger. Explosives testing on SE aspects was not as productive as forecasted. Bender held in and we were able to get two D1's out of Candy's and Sonic on cross loaded features.

Numerous slides off road banks and Sister 1 in the Kebler corridor some natural some AM. Sister 1 came 20 ft onto the road with only 4-5" of snow. 2D avalanche showed surprising propagation. A small pocket was triggered on the storm interface aprox 20' wide and sympathetically triggered all of D&D Thorton's Glade and up into Thorton's start zone. The density change in the storm snow seemed to be the most problematic then stepping down. Peak instability was this AM during the period of intense precip rates. 2D or not to 2D SS-ASc-R3-D2-I U (40cm x 120m x 200m) Mid storm interface>stepped down Thorton Glade SS-ASc-R3-D2-I U (40cm x 140m x 200m) Propagated over from 2d stepped down Sonic Straightline SS-AE-R1-D1-O U (50cm x 25m x 80m) Candy's Coulior SS-AE-R1-D1-O U (50cm x 10m x 70m)
