Quick report
Clear & sunny. Snow was crusty in the morning at low elevations and soft & wet by afternoon. Snowpack is getting thin on South aspects with many rocks near the surface or poking through at all elevations. Digging a pit at 11,600 on SE aspect showed soft snow on top progressively getting more firm towards the ground. About 2' down & 6" from the ground was a slightly faceted weak layer, and another weak layer directly on the ground. A compression test took swings from the shoulder to cause any disruption to the 2' layer, which seemed fairly well attached for being so soft. Turns didn't sink much past the top soft stuff.
