The Ramp

Went for a ridge walk in the Ramp environs via Glenn Alps. In the valleys, winds were light out of the W-NW , with moderate to strong gusts. Ridgelines more due Northerly, at times calm, gusting moderate. Spotted a size 1.5 slide from the last wind event based on the partially filled in crown. Southerly aspect of O’Malley, approx 4700ft. Photo attached. Investigated the documented avalanche on a Southwesterly aspect of Hidden Peak from last wind cycle. Impressive crown depth of 1 meter with debris hitting the valley floor. Certainly a D2. Unclear which of our weak layers was the bed surface. Based on the presence of rocks, possibly basal facets? Still running into occasional reactive wind slabs. Slide for life also on the list of hazards. In the few sheltered locations present below treeline, found large SH grains. Rain crust present until 2900ft. Status quo remains in the front range at the moment.
