On Saturday, January 10, at approximately 10:00 a.m., a group of five of us traveled up Peak 2. We decided not to continue to Peak 3 due to strong winds and concerns about avalanche risk on that peak. The snow conditions consisted of wind-blown snow resting on an icy layer. We stopped about 400 feet below where the rocky section of Peak 2 begins. A few seconds after stopping, an avalanche cracked above us, and the snow from that 400-foot section came down onto our group. I estimate the avalanche to have been a D2 in size. All five of us were swept by the avalanche, and three people were partially buried. No major injuries.
