Quick report
Today, I paid a visit to the Eddy mountains to see the effects of the recent storm. The day was pleasant and the new snow clad much of the surrounding terrain, making it feel very winter like. The sun was blocked behind clouds for most of the day, which helped preserve the snow. Dead Fall basin and Mount Eddy stayed engulfed in clouds while I was out. It will take a bit more snow to fully open up the terrain, but this is a good step in the right direction.

Partly clearing skies with low clouds trapped in valley bottoms made visibility variable. Very calm wind was observed at calm speeds. Temperatures remained below freezing.
Snowpack
The Eddy mountains are slowly beginning to host a recreational snowpack. Snow depth still varies greatly from aspect to aspect, with north aspects holding 33 inches (80 cm) below treeline. South aspects hold about half that amount. The new snow seems to be bonding well to the old snow. No signs of wind effect were observed.
