Gray Butte and Saint Germain's Bowl

Today, Eric and I set out hunting for wind slabs but did not find any areas where the new snow had yet consolidated into a slab. Near and above treeline there is 6-8 inches of dry, new snow resting on a thin yet supportable crust. We found variable wind transport that did not favor deposition and loading on any specific aspect. Snow is actively being transported as the moderate to strong winds continue and the forecast calls for additional snow through the night. With the current weather, the risk of wind slab remains and may be more likely to be found tomorrow, though in isolated pockets of extreme terrain.
