Quick report

Snowpack was generally stable throughout our travels today, small pockets of isolated slabs exist on southerly aspects. All things considered, we did not find enough slab distribution or the general structure needed to produce wet slab avalanches.

Lobster Claw had lots of wet snow consolidated in nature, but lacked the structure to support the weight of a person. During descents of this line folks reported heavy wet snow that would ball up and roll down hill slowly, entraining bits of snow along the way.

Above treeline terrain is spackled with new wind drifted snow and old snow surfaces that have been sun affected.

The windblown snow is grabby and wet during ascents and descents. We worked hard to keep ourselves to old surfaces, especially on southerly aspects where we found good corn skiing.
