Spent the nice sunny day on a road tour of the Flathead Range and Central Glacier Park. • Today's primary objective was to assist FNBP with deploying several trailhead beacon checkers around the region, and to glass a bit of avalanche terrain on route. • Four beacon checkers set up for the season. Locations: Lake McDonald Lodge, Rescue/Skiumah (new this year), Essex/Izaak Walton Inn, and Skyland. • The morning started a bit foggy in the bottoms, but clear skies and sunshine broke through by mid day. • No new avalanches to report despite the superb visibility. • At ~2:30pm, I was at Lake McDonald observing the terrain across the Lake and could not make out any significant wet loose activity on the steep southeast facing gullies of Stanton Mountain. Light winds may have helped keep the surface cool on these slopes as they are regular producers on clear sunny days. Especially after prolonged periods of cloudy, cool, snowy weather. • Wind textures were clearly viable on many high elevation slopes facing south or west. Did not travel far from parking lots
