Skinning across the top of the glades just under the trees I stepped off the skin track on the 30 degree slope and gave it a good jump. Big whoompf and cracks shot out over 50' in front of my skis. Slope was just mellow enough not to slide but we still decided to move along and ski something that was a little less steep. We didn't dig down to see what the layer was it failed on but we passed a group doing a column test that failed on the new/old snow interface and we experienced small cracks and slabs off the sides of the skinner on that same layer.
