Quick Observation

Surface hoar (~1cm tall crystals) is growing on top of the 10-15cm of this week's storm snow. Above tree-line to just below TL the crust underneath the storm snow is supportive. The powder + surface hoar conditions make for hissing fast turns...however conditions deteriorate rapidly below TL where coverage becomes less and the crust breaks under your skis making dodging snags, stumps, rocks, creeks, and fallen trees rather hazardous as the crust grabs your skis. Temps are falling. Above the clouds and up in the sun, with the right positioning, you can feature yourself in the centre of a Brocken Spectre w/ Halo (see picture). Light winds. Cloud filled valleys. N to NE aspects rode the best.
