Skied sunburst to 3k ft on the ridge. Weather: 0F at trailhead according to car, -5F ambient temp on ridge line at 3k ft by feel. With windchill -15 to -20 F. No wind on the skin up because protected by the ridgelines. On the sunburst ridgeline, constant 15 mph with gusts to 25 and some wind transport, Snowpack: 1 - 1.8k ft. Approximately 70cm of powder atop a crust, and soft snow beneath the crust. Mostly right side up excluding the crust. Surface snow slightly faceted from cold clear weather. 1.8k - 2.4k ft. 135cm of right side up powder, where my ski pole maxed out. No layers to be discerned with ski pole. Surface snow slightly faceted from cold clear weather. 2.4-3k ft. Slightly wind affected powder, some small fresh wind slabs and wind stripped powder. On ridge line theme were fresh to one-day-old wind slabs from 2 - 9 inches thick. The wind was actually moving up the valley and up sunburst face, depositing snow on the ridge and leeward to the N. Triggered shooting cracks till about a foot long on this interface. On Magnum across the valley the ribs/spines were scoured with the gullies loaded. Some wind affect on much of the snow on both W and N aspects.
