Avalanche Information

Surprised to find a persistent weakness under the past week or so's snowfall. The culprit was a 5-8cm thick facet layer above a thin weak crust down 50-60cm. This weak crust seemed to be isolated to steep south facing slopes and is above the thick Feb. 18th melt-freeze crust. The facet layer was found in some locations on other aspects but seemed less sensitive. We only encountered this avalanche problem on South aspects at TL but didn't travel into the alpine. Storm slabs and buried windslabs where present elsewhere, but where causing only isolated cracking and no whumpfing in areas travelled.
