Good day at Emerald lake, lots of tracks but coverage is suitable down to the lake. Entered from the west side ridge at 8200ft, a 10ft down climb was required, a short rappel would make things easy.
HS ranged from 120 in TL to 200 in ALP. Steep Lee features were reactive to ski cutting, 5-20cm isolated pockets running 30-50m. Windward areas held 10-50cm of unsupportive faceted snow, recommend avoiding for the sake of core shots. Good fresh turns down to tree line consisting of ~20cm of 2-4mm DF.
Experienced a rapid 5 degree warm up between 1:30pm 2:15pm as the Sun emerged. Some shedding in extreme ALP features but no signs of further instabilities or reactive deep layers.
