Quick Observation

Good day of riding at NRC. Overcast, S-1 with L to M winds from S. Cloud ceiling between 2000-2100m and -8° at 2100m. ~20cm new snow at 1330m. Some soft wind slabs starting ~1800m. Felt the older firmer wind slabs down about 30cm in spots, with new wind slabs developping. Had some isolated cracks from fresh wind slabs, but no propagation or whumfing. Dug a test pit at 2100m, skinned up to 2170 and skied the trimline on the face near the gulley. Some sluffing on the way down but no signs other signs.

Snowpack

Dug a test pit 120cm deep at 2100m with HS 295cm at TL. Incline 35°. W aspect. Temp -8°C. 0 to 70cm, Snowpack gradually going from F to 1F and PP, DF, RG. 55cm Identified a thin MFcr layer 70 to 100cm got 4F with FC and RG 0.5 to 1mm. 100 to 120cm (bottom of pit) got 1F with FC 1mm. CTH 23 (RP) down 30cm on decomposing SH 1-2mm CTH 27 (RP) down 70cm on FC 1-2mm.
