Quick Observation
Went for a tour up to tryst lake to check it out and see how cold is too cold. Not much traffic up these ways through the last few days left us plenty of fresh tracks. Pity we were too cold to do more than a single lap. Up to 40cm of fresh snow gave us some fantastic skiing conditions. Notable surface sluffing on any steep terrain and shooting cracks along any wind loaded areas although saw no signs of natural activity. No slab formation on the N aspect we skied. New snow sitting on top of facets and the rain crust still existing at 2250m. This rain crust seems to be supportive and bridging the facets/depth hoar below. Still avoided any open planar slopes. Managed to break 2 skin clips and one heel piece with the cold temps which made for an entertaining ski/skin out. Numb hands didn't make for many photos of conditions or eating lunch. Great times all around.
