Quick Observation

Nice skiing on the moderate to steep slopes in the avalanche tracks on Mount Whymper. The snow was boat top deep on a supportive crust. There was a bit of avalanche debris in the upper end of the avy tracks and evidence of multiple start zones just below ridge tops high in the alpine. I think this was from avalanche control by Parks Canada in the past. The treeline and below treeline skiing was a lot of fun in the avy track and deposition zones. We didn't do a shovel tap test but the supportive crusts seemed pretty thick (~40-50cms?) when probed with a ski pole as we ascended. Skiing was great!
