Mt Whymper

Amazing conditions on Whymper for mid April. The north facing slopes held reasonably dry powder. Lower down had a few cms on crust. At the steepest point, a member of our group did a hand shear test where they were able to get a clean shear about 30cm down on a previous wind crust. Another group came along and felt comfortable boot packing this section, which we eventually did as well. Skiing we found no major instability, just sloughing on the steepest pitches.
