Big Hill was capped in a surface melt/freeze crust, over dry snow. The area looked beautiful, but the 1-3cm crust made for some catchy, challenging riding. Overall coverage however was excellent for this zone, and it’s shaping up for some good spring conditions. Solar effect was strong. Steeper S facing sloops were heating up quickly by mid day, so we stuck to the lower angle broad ridge, and accepted the crust that came with it. Winds moderate from the NW in the morning, with a touch of new snow available for transport and on the move.
