Quick Observation

Hiked up East Peak and skied the south face. The day started cold, cloudy, and windy but as we approached the summit the sun came out and it started to warm up. Our original objective was the NE face but after digging a pit we decided to ski the south face before the snow warmed up. Other than some .5 sloughs we saw no signs of instability, but I wouldn’t have wanted to ski that slope any later

Weather

The day started cold and cloudy with a moderate wind from the North. Around 11am the clouds began to clear and by noon the sun was shining

Snowpack

We dug down to investigate the layers mentioned in the forecast and although they were present they did not appear to be particularly problematic. 10cm of light snow sat atop a crust that sloughed but didn’t propagate or step down. The layer 60cm down was triggered on CTH6 but was resistant. Snow on North aspects was wind affected and firm while snow on south aspects was soft and light, but got warm fast.
