2023 that's a braaaaap

Clouds hung out on the west side of highway and it was mostly clear to the east in the fan tail area. We went down the rail towards big y to start but the flat light and open water was enough for us to turn around. We ventured to fan tail and stayed down low in the area and enjoyed the deep snow. The water is cross able now. There is a few slushy/water sections that you need to carry momentum through. There was wind affected areas but they were easy to avoid. Temps were cooler today. -6C and light south winds at 2pm. We avoided open creeks which are numerous and could be hard to see with bad light. I spoke to another group who went much deeper in fan tail into steeper terrain and they didn't observe any instabilities. Happy new year!
