Channel Ridge

Easy travel up the spurs, cut blocks and up the drainage to 1700m. Hand shear test @1650m 20cm soft slab, moderate release. 30cm ski pen, light, dry. Ascended Channel Ridge from the south approach and was very saturated by the sun at 1950m. Dry, blower quickly turned to pinwheels and heavy, sluggish trail breaking while still maintaining 30cm ski pen with much less efficiency. Reached south end of ridge 1:00pm @ 2100m, +1c thermometer reading. Descended an open west aspect bowl down to 1850m into a drainage 1.2km north of our ascent route.
