Kokanee Ridge 2162m

Cautious terrain selection. Observed 20cm slab break away for 1 meter on a steep SW exposure test ski cut prompting a pit analysis for travel decision later on the ridge.

Pit: 40 deg SW slope, -4deg C, overcast, 2163m 215cm snowpack CT 24 clean shear at 20cm Fist progressed to 3F then 2F at the 20cm depth ~3cm crust layer. At the same CT24 a rough shear occurred at 85cm on a sugary snow layer. The 20cm shear was repeatable at CT28 but the 85cm depth break did not repeat. CTE produced no propagation.
