Quick Observation

Hot lapped Rock Isle lake all day today - great snow although it was getting heavier by the time we left at 2pm. Dig a pit on NW aspect near a wind affected ridge at 2268m - 165cm HS, got CTM18 SC down 120cm on depth hoar (repeatable). Didn't bother with an ECT but would've been interesting. Wasn't entirely surprised given the rocky terrain underneath and the location - but took it easy and moved our way up in terms of terrain (which was still mellow). No cracking or whumpfing throughout the day. Great snow (but we tracked it out real good). Snow got heavy by the time we left at 2pm and light snow was coming down. Didn't see any other recent activity (although we did visit on Monday the huge 130cm crown of last weeks avy off Wawa ridge towards backoor). Really impressive !
