Skinned up to Race Car and observed several recent avalanches off of planetary peak on NE facing aspects. Snow above 1700m was generally wind buffed and very skiable with little to no ski penetration around tree line and softer in the trees, a gnarly breakable crust most places below that. Road was icy but skied and skinned fine. Saw *a lot* of recently downed trees from the recent wind as well, might pose a skiing hazard once some more snow falls and hides those unexpected “early season” hazards.
Unsure of the triggers or time/date of the natural avalanches, guess is either wind loading or cornice dropping within ~48 hours (Alpine start zones not visible).
