Type

snowpack

Coordinates

51.239980, -117.459572

Quick Observation

Visibility was good until a cloud layer hung just above the toe of the glacier. Combined with a lack of features, the light went very flat.

Snowpack

20cms precipitated particles over size 2-3 rounding surface hoar - CTM15 RP. 4F- facets below that to 60cms depth. Flat light and low vis made it hard to understand the scale of terrain features. We didn’t feel like messing with reactivity that was potentially larger than expected so we turned back into the Illicillewaet drainage. Most large paths had old debris and no SH. Overall, the storm snow and facets were skiing well but we stuck to lower angle slopes where SH reactivity was a concern.
