We dug at the top of a wind affected east facing slope beside kokanee peak. (2300m) Found the Jan 10th interface down 30cm presenting as size size 2 facets with 1 finger snow above and below. I did 2 compression tests and a quick ECT on the layer: CTM 14 (SP), 13 (SP) down 30 ECTP 17 down 30. We decided not to ski the slope and chose a mellow west facing slope instead. I dug again at the bottom (2000m) in a sheltered glade and found well preserved surface hoar to size 5 down 35cm. The snow overlying it here was softer (fist to 4 finger) so it was not producing and compression test results.
