Today we observed a very large crown (2-3m deep and several hundred meters wide) on the upper East face of Mt Lefroy. It is confirmed that this was not there yesterday. The recent west wind event likely added some loading to the face but it was likely triggered by serac fall sometime last night or this morning. Easily viewed with the eyes from many kilometers across the valley at the LL resort. It did not appear to be down onto the glacier ice.
