Got the updated avy report while at thunder meadows hut. Increased from 332 to 444 so we went out to dig a pit on a small NW facing slope as that is the aspect we would be skiing to get out. Forgot to measure the angle but we estimate it at 35 degrees.
Dug down 160cm and isolated a column. Just the placing of the shovel on top caused a sudden planar failure 135cm down on the Jan persistent weak layer.
There were also weak layers 30cm and 50cm down.
Absolutely no skiing after this result.
