early season whitepass

First day of the season for me, 30-40cm of snow generally at treeline, while the alpine was mostly wind scoured to rock. The 5cm nearest the ground was a crust of some kind that we found everywhere we went. Riding was generally alright , given how bad things looked from the road! Creeks are still open and are challenging to cross and Fraser lake is just about 3/4 frozen over. Lee slopes(N-NE facing), like the big kahuna were the only alpine slopes with continues snow cover.
