Fun day out in 8812 Bowl. We counted 16 people on their way up to Video, but we were the only ones in 8812! Pretty lucky.
Bruins ridge was quite wind loaded with obvious slab development on the lee side (NE aspect). No whumpfing or cracking while skinning, we stuck to the ridge proper as much as possible to mitigate risk. Once in the bowl there was some wind affect but we did not experience any signs on instability, and the ski quality remained very good. Unfortunately the visibility deteriorated precisely as we transitioned, but hey that’s life!
Did not see evidence of any recent avalanches, though again visibility wasn’t great. There is a glide crack on a small piece of terrain as you enter Ursus Minor bowl.
Weather: overcast, light winds from the SW, no precipitation, steady temps around -9.
