COLD day up the Hermit drainage. Trail breaking was boot top to above boot top in open areas with cold rightside up snow until 2100m. Around 2100m in the moraines we started to observe wind effected snow.
Cloud deck was tricky all day; we finally punched through the cloud layer on the Swiss Glacier but we could see a 'sea of clouds' over most of the western Rogers Pass areas. Only later in the day did the clouds really break.
Rogers south face was noticeably wind effected, with strong north winds and flagging on ridgelines. We could see the col getting actively loaded from the northside. Pivoted to Swiss-Truda col where we found 8-10 cm of loose, dry snow on top of a firmer wind layer. Booting was surprisingly not too bad. Another group of 2 skiers skied the Swiss Couloir. Lone Pine Lite exit had around 4 tracks before our party of 2 descended. The snow was soft, dry, and unconsolidated. Lower down in the avy path there was old debris piles.
