A quick single lap up towards Balu pass this morning. Overall, great travel conditions up and down, thanks to a coastal feeling upper snowpack. Managed to ski right back to the parking lot and didn't hit a rock or stump. Of course, there are plenty of those waiting for folks in the usual spots. The glop was REAL until snow conditions improved slightly around 1850m.
15-20cm of warm and rapidly settling HN overlies SH 5mm (hard to identify in my haste ) at TL and produced a couple of very easy hand shears and some minor cracking. HN was being actively redistributed from moderate SW winds. Below, pole probing indicated a generally right-side-up snow pack with a weak crust in places below the HN. No ALP obs. Minor cycle out of Cheops north and STS running to near the end of the track to size 1.5 in the last 24hrs , could not see start zones.
