Just made it all the way to Harvey trailhead. -4C in the morning with strong winds coming from the SW. Snow started around 12 with heavy precip and significant accumulation by 3 when we left.
After gaining the ridge we dug a profile at 2200m on a NE wind loaded aspect HS 180cm. Column test popped on CT34@75cm on a faceted layer. Several hand shears yielded planar failures on the same faceted layer. No signs of recent avalanches or instability otherwise.
Skied low angle NW aspect. No wind effect noted. Great skiing in 20-30cm of new pow from the ridge.
Difficult driving from McLatchie junction in high clearance 4x4. Road conditions rapidly degrading.
