Marriott basin

Party of 12, skied the Marriott basin Dec 26-29. Stayed in treeline skiing, avoided big open slopes with terrain traps. Heard some whumfing Dec 26 on the ski in, lots of whumfing in the up track Dec 27, and some Dec 28, but none on Dec 29 using established up tracks. Dug a pit at 2000m on S aspect, but the deep weak layer at about 80cm settled/popped prior to starting snowpack tests, which was spooky so we retreated! One small skier triggered sluff on E aspect is the only avalanche activity we saw during our trip. No shooting cracks. Skied E, S, W aspects.
