Quick Observation

My partner and I went up towards sky pilot for the first time. The access road is groomed. Once you get to the skinnier part of the trail (Habrich Spur according to Gaia) things get a bit messier. Open creek in the middle and a bunch more snow would help to make travel more pleasant. We probed 150cm at 1400 in the trees (NE aspect). At 1520m we were at the treeline/alpine transition and things changed quickly. A lot of windslabs and we could see 2 signs of recent avalanches. We talked to a party that had triggered a size 1 (roughly NE aspect, between 1700 - 1800m) some time earlier in the afternoon higher up. We decided to ski down from that elevation since there was more wind loading higher and we could pick up pieces or feel slabs when skinning. First part of the ski down in open gullies was great. In the trees the skiing was a bit more sporty and the first part of the exit was skied out and needs more coverage. Great first day in this area overall. According to what we saw there was good and safe turns between 1550m roughly and enough snow until 1350 where the trees and obstacles got denser.
