Quick report
Skied the NE couloir of Peaklet, from Buttermilk Road. The couloir itself was all cold-winter snow of various types, making for mostly very good skiing. The lower portion, which faces true north, was soft settled old storm snow on a supportable crust underneath. In some sections, it had been scoured to this crust. The upper portion, which faces NE, varied between supportable and breakable wind board, which was covered by a few inches of soft snow in places. No solar affect observed anywhere in the line except for the upper left walls, which face S/SE. Below about 9,000 on most aspects, the sun was experiencing melt/freeze cycles, even on lower angle north slopes. Only steeper true norths had some soft snow resting on a firm, slippery crust. This surface snow was faceting in some locations. On our ascent, temps were warm and the sun was strong. However, by early afternoon, clouds moved over the crest, and we even had some periods of light flurries. There was a light breeze at points throughout the day, but nothing major, and no wind transport.
