Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
We experienced some localized cracking around our skis. Most of this SW aspect we somewhat wind affected. We observed obvious recent crowns on the NW face across from the canyon near Apgar lookout. We dug a pit which showed 18" of densified new snow on drying rounded snow. There was a slightly faceted layer 6 inches down in the new snow. The interface between the new snow and the drying rounded snow was poor. We recorded an ECTN15 but after the ECT we pulled lightly behind the block that was left and it easily popped off. While we felt the newer densified snow was not consolidated enough to propagate we decided to turn around based on this information. It was quite warm at our location with only light winds.

Snowpack
Highly variable at the elevation and aspect we were at. Wind slabs, crusts, some faceted snow, and some densified fresh snow all present in various locations.
