Snow looked good with some wind affect but still soft.
Avalanche
Flew through the pass. Saw 1 deep persistent slab avalanche that was deeper than the new storm snow. It was a NE aspect, around 4200’, crown must have been at least 6-8 feet deep and 1000’+ wide. It was in the small glacial cirque that comes off the NW side of Billy Mitchell South Peak (the proper summit). Saw at least 6 D2+ storm slab releases mostly on steeper terrain in the upper alpine. Everything looked to have slid during the storm, the deep persistent slab avalanche looked to have slide towards the tail end of the storm judging how fresh the crown looked. A Heli group skied a couple pretty steep exposed lines on 40 mile wall/Wilber’s area with no activity which seemed a little rowdy for my liking considering it is the day after a 3’ storm cycle. The most avalanche activity was in the intercontinental zone between billy Mitchell and Wilber’s.
