Fracture/Collapse results were stubborn as the weak layer buried 60cm down did not propagate during an extended column test (ECTN23@115cm,) or a propagation saw test (PST98/100ARR.) However, the snow hardness decreased significantly under the ice layer detected at 77cm down (4 finger.) A weak layer buried relatively deep in the snowpack can present a deep slab avalanche problem on slopes above 30 degrees. No observed instability, although new snow (12+" in 24 hours) and high winds may contribute to future wind-loading.

Snowpack

The snowpack continues to change as the season goes on. 12+" of fresh snow over the last 24 hours brought lots of powder, but several layers of concern remain in the snowpack, including a weak layer 60 cm down and a ice layer 77 cm down. High winds and continued snowfall may produce wind slab issues over the next several days.
