Quick report
Rec tour at Coneys today. There was obvious wind effect in open areas, but the wind skin was soft and still made for fun skiing. We didn't encounter any signs of instability at the top of first bowl/the nose area. Wind effect became stiffer near the bottom of first bowl, where we triggered a small wind slab in a cross-loaded, steep roller. There was evidence of very small storm slabs on the steepest terrain features from the past 24 hours in the cat's hat glade, none of which propagated or ran very far. Sheltered skiing was where the best turns were found.
Poked into an undisturbed area and found:
0-38cm: fist hard facets
38-40cm: melt freeze crust from Christmas
40-90cm: slab of snow since Christmas, ranging from 1F-Fist hard

Natural activity observed on Gothic and small skier-triggered wind slab in a crossloaded feature. Did not experience any cracking or collapsing as we moved through the terrain today.Weather

Brr! A beautiful and chilly day. We all agreed the winds felt the strongest at the valley floor.

Skier triggered small (D1) wind slab in the steep rollers near the bottom of first bowl around 9,900 feet. Noticed a natural wind-slab on the Gothic west chutes that the fresh debris looked like it ran late last night or early this morning; the crown was difficult to discern and was obscured by wind transport.
