In an effort to avoid widely distributed PWL aspects targeted South facing terrain in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Experienced no whumphing, collapsing, or shooting cracks associated with basal facets. Observed large D2 persistent slab avalanches in Red Cone Bowl and in steep terrain below Hollywood Chute. Avoiding freshly loaded north facing terrain made new snow and wind slab instability our primary avalanche hazard concern. Test cut ting a loaded south facing convexity at 10,800’ produced no result. Intentional ski cut the Hole in The Wall entrance, triggered a wind slab avalanche. Slab ran at the new old interface, by informal inspection ran on near surface facets. While the avalanche was small and unlikely to bury a person it occurred in a place where being caught could have resulted in serious injury. SS-ASc-R2-D1.5-I ~18” X ~30’x ~350’
