We had anticipated/forecasted storm snow instability on steeper slopes today. A small route finding error, deposited us on top of a steeper section of terrain. We observed small sloughs entrain more snow as they slid, and opted to assess how reactive the new snow was. Skier one executed a ski cut and as expected the storm snow broke at their feet, entraining more snow below as the storm snow essentially slid off the top of the old snow. It was larger than we had anticipated. Our assessment was the new snow was indeed reactive.
