As I approached the basin of Hyalite I dug a few hand-pits and noticed a significant amount of faceted snow towards the bottom of the snowpack. I performed an ECT on the steeper zone directly below the Summer Trail ski descent. Results did not propagate but did show ECTN14 nearly a foot down above the facetted layer of snow. After pulling the column, the snow sluffed away and showed minimal reactivity, I continued onward. Light cracking was observed below my skis while approaching the ridge line from wind drifted snow. This was expected and nothing was shooting out and propagating so I felt safe to continue approaching the summit. Snow skied well where there was snow but it is still significantly sharky. I received a small core shot on my decent. Minimal cracking while approaching ridgeline. This was well assumed prior to ascent.

Snowpack

ECT test was performed at 9400' on NE facing aspect. This area was not wind effected Thin layer of freeze/thaw was witnessed on surface of the snow followed by 3" of light, fist density snow. Then another 4" of 4F dense snow. A small weak layer was formed between this layer and 1" of frozen snow from the melt prior to the most recent snowfall event. There was a foot of snowpack below this thaw that was filled with faceted snow. ECT was performed and a fracture was observed at the 14th hit, no propagation occurred. After pulling the column from the back, the snowpack sluffed over itself.
