Quick report
We rode up from Sawtelle to Yale Creek drainage. Dug a pit around 9250' on a NE aspect at around 3pm. It was partly cloudy with light snow and light winds as forecasted. Snow height was 210cm with about 80cm new snow. We dug a 120cm pit, putting us below the last melt freeze crust. The shovel sheer showed a lot of resistance and could not break. Compression test showed CTN as well as ECTX in the extended column. Hand hardness showed F 210cm-160cm, 4F 160cm-145cm and 1F 145cm to 120cm with no notable hard crust layers, other than the small melt freeze crust at 145cm.
