Observation: Scotts Backdoor

Today our L1 class observed poor bonding between the storm snow and old snow surface. On test slopes storm snow would sluff and easily release. When the snow settles and the load becomes more significant we will absolutely see some avalanches on the new/old interface. Coverage is still very thin at mid elevations and freshly buried hazards are a concern. We did not travel to wind exposed terrain to see if there was wind slab development but could clearly see snow moving on ridge lines and in exposed terrain when the storm broke momentarily early in the afternoon.
