- Poor Snowpack Structure
- Red Flags Comment
-
In the past two days of touring, there have been no overt signs of instability. However, simply step off of your skis and you go through the loud faceted snow to the ground.

12-18 inches of total snow at 8800 ft. 3 inches of new light snow on a firm 1 inch melt/freeze crust and the rest is simply rotten faceted snow. One of the poorest structured snow packs that I have seen in the past 30 years. The only thing missing is a slab. It will be interesting when we get new snow.
Snowpack
3 inches of light snow on a semi supportable melt freeeze crust makes for reasonable turning on north sheltered slopes.
