Observation: Powder Mountain Backcountry

Wife and wanted to try James today at Pow mow. I knew there's wind loading on the main southeast face. We dug a pit about halfway up the ridge on a similar aspect. Pit was 70cm as there was a hard sun crust at 50cm (20 inches) which is the layer we were worried about the new snow failing. ECTP14. Decided today was not the day.
