Quick report

Our AIARE 1 group wanted to check out the stability and skiing conditions of the Little Headwall. While most of the water is frozen over, the ice is thin in some places. Another big snowstorm will probably be needed before this line is fun to ski. We approached from below and turned around about 50 vertical feet from the top (pic) due to bare ice. We found generally stable avalanche conditions in the steeper terrain, with a right-side-up snowpack. Wind slabs were mostly isolated to within the trees. The Sherburne was even more fun than Saturday — not bad for being so early in the backcountry ski season!
