Quick report
Toured up the south end of Teton Canyon to see how the new snow was behaving. 8 - 10" of new snow in the last 24 hrs. Intermittent snow showers through the morning, tapering off by 1 pm. Clouds fully parted around 3 pm giving a nice burst of afternoon sun. My maximum elevation was ~8700'. Winds were calm through the day and I saw no evidence of wind transport or loading below 9000'. Looking east towards Treasure Mountain, I could see wind-effected snow at high elevations.
No signs of instability or recent avalanches were noted throughout the day. A test pit at 8400' (east facing) yielded an ECTP11 ~11" down. This failure propagated in a density change within the new snow. Februrary 2nd layer is ~3 feet down and unreactive at this location.
