Skid chill slope across the highway from Manitoba, east of Fresno drainage. Calm winds and partly cloudy skies. Pole probes showed a consistent layer of powder about 6 inches deep on top of a very hard slab up to 2500 feet. Above 2500 feet snow depth and drifts were variable from inches to feet, hollow spots also felt with poles. Observed small slab release described above at about 3000 feet.
